2019: A Year in Review

It’s hard to believe we’re only 1 day away from the roaring 20’s! 2019 was one of my favorite years yet! We had our busiest year in business getting acclimated to the industry in the Lake Tahoe region along with welcoming our firstborn, beautiful Audra Nanette!

1/20/19, Jenna + Chris: West Shore Cafe + Inn

Our 2019 Season began January 20th at the gorgeous West Shore Cafe on the shores of Lake Tahoe.  Jenna + Chris’ day was simply stunning and lush with all those gorgeous winter colors.

We spent the rest of our winter months acclimating to parenthood and traveling for planning meetings for our clients.

5/18/19, Steffi + Steve: Beach Retreat and Lodge

We enjoyed a south shore wedding at Lakeside Beach + Resort.  Steffi and Steve’s day was an intimate celebration with those nearest and dearest to them.  By far, one of our favorite details was the dueling pianos as entertainment.  There was even a moment where Steffi was escorted on top of the grand piano to be serenaded by all the gentlemen in the room.

6/1/19, Lily + Jay: The Lenox Hotel

Talk about a luxurious day with odes to the rich history of Boston.  Taking place at the luxurious and historic St. Cecilia Parish + historic Lenox Hotel.  Their soft pink, white, and gold wedding was as romantic and luxurious as one might think.

6/15/19, Kim + Brant: The Ruth Bancroft Garden

Kim Hidalgo and Brant Daugherty Wedding, Ruth Bancroft Garden

A sweet and elegant celebration at her family property, the Ruth Bancroft Garden, where Kim’s parents and grandparents (Ruth Bancroft herself) each married, Kim married the love of her life, Brant Daugherty of Pretty Little Liars.  Pops of succulents adorned the day and there were so many special elements through out the celebration including a homemade arbor made by the bride’s brother, a ring pup and flower pup, milk bar cookies as favors for the guests, and several celebrities and Hollywood professionals including Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, and Sarah Hyland.  This was a career highlight for sure.

7/5/19, Marci + Joey: Park Winters

Marci + Joey’s day took place at Park Winters in Winters, California.  They had a traditional Catholic Ceremony at a nearby church.  The pops of rose gold, soft and dark pinks were just the perfect touches for this sweet couple.  It was so fun to see their loved ones surround them and celebrate.

7/12/19, Surprise 40th Celebration, The Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay

In February I was hired to help plan a surprise 40th birthday party for my client’s wife.  This event took place at The Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay.  Talk about dreamy!  The guests enjoyed a cocktail style affair and the gold, navy and white adorned affair was a perfect way to celebrate the birthday girl!  It was a fun challenge to learn about Sarah and incorporate all the things she loved!  This included toasts from some of her favorite people, a tea bar, a live band, a four tiered cake with flavors to represent favorite flavors from each of her decades, and line dancing lessons taught by myself and my assistant and dear friend, Taryn! Yes, I LOVE line dancing and this is about the 6th time I’ve taught it! Maybe this should be an added service?

7/20/19 Megan + Kyle, Edgewood Tahoe

One of the wonderful things about this industry, is helping other planners out when in need.  One of my industry friends needed to hand over a wedding to another planner so I had the pleasure of coordinating this wedding for her.  I loved the intimate affair for Megan + Kyle.  There were roughly 50 guests in attendance and it was a very relaxed evening with some their nearest and dearest friends.  The razorbacks groom’s cake was certainly a memorable detail!

7/21/19, Kendell + Brian:  The Gatekeepers’ Museum

Brian and Kendell’s day was one of my favorites of this season.   I loved the elegant, bohemian whimsy in the florals and the intricate details of Kendell’s gown.  The day was full of so much joy and celebration of Kendell + Brian’s love for each other.  One of my favorite memories of this night was watching Kendell doing the worm on her dance floor!  What an amazing party! They wanted to celebrate under the stars and did just that!

8/9/19, Lyka + Steve: Lakeland Village

Lyka + Steve’s day was a gorgeous celebration right on the shores of South Lake Tahoe.  Their details included beautiful tropical themed florals and seashells.  Lyka + Steve’s son and daughter were their ring bearer and flower girl and it was such a joy to see these two be united!

8/23/19, Jessica + Derek: West Shore Cafe + Inn

Talk about an elegant affair!  With grey’s, whites, and greenery as the color palette, Jessica + Derek’s day was everything classic, elegant, and woodland.  We loved seeing their family and friend’s come together to celebrate these two and to watch them all rip up on the dance floor was a big favorite of their day.

9/14/19, Lauren + Jacob, Private Estate in Danville, California

In 2016, Lauren’s mom had contact me to do her wedding at her estate in Danville, Ca.  So it was an honor to be contacted to do her daughter’s wedding at the same location this past September.  An intimate and relaxing affair, some of the best moments of this day was watching the bride (who had beaten cancer earlier that year!) and see guests enjoying their chilled beer and wine from a homemade drink trough made by the bride.  What a gorgeous family our team has been privileged to serve!

9/20/19, Kelsey + Cole: The Lodge at Tahoe Donner

Kelsey + Cole’s simple yet elegant day was a pure joy to be a part of.  Greenery, gold, white and navy were the colors of the day and were the most perfect palette to compliment the natural beauty that is the Tahoe National Forest.  Watching them cut their cake with Kelsey’s Great Great Grandfather’s sword which has been used in 16 family member’s weddings to cut the cake!

9/21/19, Zoe + Billy: Family Estate in Elk Grove, California

I loved seeing all the personalized elements brought in by Zoe + Billy!  Their drinks were kept cool in a family canoe, the arch was custom built by the groom, and the table seating chart was custom made by the groom. The signature drink of Tangerine Vodka Soda was delicious!

9/28/19, Tara + Aaron: The Lodge at Tahoe Donner

Tara + Aaron’s day was stunning!  Elegant colors of white, blush pink, gold, and greenery made all the elegance.   Personalized touches like a popcorn bar with 5 different flavors for guests to customize to their liking and customized games of Jenna and Connect Four were the perfect way for Tara and Aaron to make their day more them.  The weather couldn’t make up it’s mind that day and we experienced what Mountain Country sometimes does in providing, rain, slush, sun, and snow all in one day!  It was an honor witnessing Tara and Aaron gracefully roll with the punches and determine that the most important part of their day was that they were married and the got to celebrate with their loved ones.

10/13/19- 60th Wedding Anniversary, Bath, Pennsylvania

In October, I had the privilege of helping to spearhead the planning and decor of my own grandparents’ wedding anniversary at their home church in Bath, PA.  It was a joyous intimate celebration and it was so. much. fun. bringing out my grandma’s wedding gown from 1959 along with their cake topper, guest book, and bride’s book which listed all of the details from her wedding including what everyone gave them!

11/3/19, Natalie + Dustin: The Chateau at Incline Village

A romantic, elegant, classy celebration for sure!  Natalie and Dustin’s wedding was full of those perfect winter colors of Burgundy, pink, white, and gold.  Natalie adorned the most beautiful silk gown and Dustin wore the most handsome tux.  Flying everyone in for this celebration made for the most intimate and honoring celebration which we were honored to be a part of.

12/20/19, Celebration of Life, Reno. NV

My last event of the year ended up being a Celebration of Life for a gentlemen whose life was taken too soon in January. It was an honor to plan a celebration for him at one of he and his wife’s favorite places with their favorite people.  We brought in his favorite foods and desserts and adorned the venue with his favorite colors of Burgundy and navy in the florals designed by me and the linens.

What a blessing this year has been and we can’t wait for all that 2020, the next decade will bring! And so looking forward to serving all our future clients in the New Year and bringing a few more services to you!
