Four Ways To Be Creative with Your Floral Budget

Let’s get creative!

Florals are one of our favorite design elements.  They add such a pleasing aesthetic to your eye and can also add the most sensuous aroma to event space.  The textures that can be incorporated through your greenery and floral choices from focal to filler flowers are favorite features of your florals as well. Coupled with just the right rentals, your event space can be completely transformed into a space that is purely YOU and welcome your guests into an amazing experience.

But even if you have an unlimited budget to allocate to florals, with the rising cost of florals in 2022, you will probably still want to be sure you are being smart with how that budget is being spent on your florals.

Below are a few ways you can be creative with your floral budget.

  1. Seasonal Blooms:

Ask your floral designer to guide you to the best seasonal blooms. Peonies are one of the most popular floral choices for a wedding; hello symbolic of love, honor, happiness wealth, romance, and beauty.  But did you know their bloom season is only late spring to June?  That means getting the florals any other time of the year is going cost you a pretty penny.  But there are other great florals that have a similar look that would be great substitutes and help you stay within your allocated price range.

  2. Consider variety in your centerpieces:

One of our favorite ways to bring a wow element and still help your clients be creative with their floral spend is creating one to three different tablescape looks.  That could be half of the tables are adorned with the tall centerpieces and half have a more lush and low look to them.  Maybe ⅓ are full of candles and greenery and ⅔ are the lush floral centerpieces.

  3. The Art of Repurposing:

While we don’t recommend this for every wedding design, there are some where it seems a no-brainer and appropriate to repurpose some of your ceremony floral to your reception- especially when guests will not have access to your reception before they are invited in.  Some great pieces for this include repurposing your floral spray to your sweetheart table, placing an aisle arrangement onto your dessert table or to fill in a centerpiece. Work with your florist and planner to determine the best way to do this. Any bridesmaids bouquets can also be thoughtfully placed on other event spaces throughout the cocktail hour and reception to bring additional elements of beauty to your design.

  4. Life After the Wedding:

Many couples are concerned that florals only have a short life span to be enjoyed during your wedding.  And it’s true- it is a big bummer that many of them are only enjoyed during those 6 + hours of your event.  Consider sending the arrangements home with any guests who may live nearby or making arrangements with your planner to drop some pieces off at a local retirement home. Or just be sure to have the planner notify your wedding team that the florals are welcomed to be brought home to their loved ones.

There are plenty of ways to get creative so you can enjoy the accent and beauty that florals bring to your wedding. Again, we REALLY love the beauty and whimsical aspects florals bring to your design element. Working with the right team to help you create your dreams is also key to ensuring you get beautiful florals while staying within your budget. You won’t be sorry having these incorporated into your design.
